Damen launches fully electric RSD-E Tug 2513 for Port of Antwerp-Bruges

On 12th April Damen Shipyards Group launched the second of its fully electric RSD-E Tugs 2513 at Damen Song Cam Shipyard. The tug is being built for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, together with five conventional RSD Tugs 2513. When delivered later this year, it will be the first fully electric tug to operate in European waters. China State Shipbuilding to build 18 LNG ships for QatarEnergy

China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC) has signed an agreement to build 18 ultra-large ships for QatarEnergy to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG), Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said on Monday. The agreement was signed at a ceremony on Monday, CCTV said, adding that the vessels would be the world’s largest with a capacity of 271,000 cubic meters each. Samsung Heavy Industries filed a lawsuit recently against Korea Gas Corp. Alang ship recycling falls to 16-year low; only 125 ships scrapped in FY24

Ship recycling or shipbreaking in Alang fell to a new low, with 125 ships dismantled in FY24 compared with 131 ships in the previous year, data from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Gujarat Maritime Board showed. Shipbreaking yards in Alang recycled 944,069.25 of light displacement tonnage (LDT) in FY24 compared to 1,147,480 LDT in FY23 and 1,093,450 LDT in FY22. Damen launches pilot project for circular shipbreaking
